How does a draft become “done”? At what point does a writer decide a piece is finished? What is cut, developed, rearranged, re-imagined, or borrowed from other projects along the way? Fair Copy is a journal of prose process, showcasing the possibilities of evolution and revision.
Twice a year (Spring and Fall), Fair Copy publishes a print issue with a limited number of prose pieces, each comprised of a draft; the final, fair copy; and a mini craft essay from the author about their writing and revision process. Additionally, each issue includes writing exercises inspired by that issue’s content. Selected pieces from print issues may also appear online.
